Application Deadlines & Requirements

Your application will be evaluated on the basis of your undergraduate (and subsequent graduate) preparation, graduate aptitude test scores, congruence between your objectives and the program's goals, and any other criteria established by the program to which you are applying.       

Required Criteria for Consideration for Admission

  • Online application completed

  • Undergraduate GPA Minimum: 3.0 (unless otherwise stated below)

  • $65 Non-refundable Application Fee - paid via credit card with the online application

  • Official Transcript(s) from each Postsecondary Institution Attended 

  • Student Clearance Checks (for those who do not have current clearances on file) or School Clearance Waiver (for those currently employed by a school district and have clearances on file with a district). This is part of the online application process and not a separate process.

All documents are uploaded through the online application process - except for transcripts.  

Transcripts

Applicants must provide transcripts from all institutions attended. Official transcripts are those with a degree conferred date and sent in sealed envelopes directly from the issuing institution directly to the Office of Admissions. Copies of transcripts sent by applicants or any other source will be considered unofficial. These should be mailed directly to the Admissions Office, College of Education, 111 Research Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18015. 

Test Scores 

Applicants should inquire with the Program Coordinator which tests are required.  All scores should be submitted to the College of Education Admission Coordinator using LU Institutional Code 2365 (GRE) and 1635 (MAT). GRE and MAT scores are valid for a five year period.

GRE test score, minimum 75th percentile

This is a college-wde requirement for the doctoral and ED.S. programs and is combined with the GPA such that, in some circumstances, and applicant can be admitted if they meet the GPA requirement but fall below the GRE requirement.

TOEFL 

Graduate students who are non-native speakers of English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT). Please also note that the TOEFL Paper-Based Test (PBT) and the TOEFL Computer-Based Test (CBT) have been discontinued and are no longer valued for admissions purposes. TOEFL test date must be within the last 2 years. The TOEFL requirement may be waived if the applicant has graduated from a US institution within the last 2 years.
