Non-Degree Student

Non-Degree

Overview

Non-Degree students who are not pursuing a certificate or certification can take individual classes for professional development. All applicants with a bachelor's degree are eligible to apply as a Non-Degree student in the College of Education. Non-Degree students can register for a selection of graduate courses that are open to Non-Degree students. Non-Degree students are permitted to take between 1-12 credits unless approved for additional coursework. An offer of admission as a Non-Degree student does not guarantee admission to a degree-seeking program. A separate application process is required for degree programs. If a student is interested in applying for a degree program, the student can work with their advisor to align courses with their degree of interest.

The minimum GPA for Non-Degree applicants is 2.75, however, Non-Degree applicants with a GPA below 2.75 will be considered for Associate Admission. See the full Associate Status policy in the College of Education Handbook on the Student Resources page.

Application Requirements

  • Online application

Curriculum

All College of Education classes are listed in the Catalog. The current COE course listings indicate if a course is open to Non-Degree (ND) students. Winter and Spring course lists are posted in October or November and Summer and Fall course lists are posted in March or April. Browse classes by Semester to see when a course has been offered in the past. Once admitted, Non-Degree students work with their advisor to identify appropriate courses.

School Counseling graduates can apply as a Non-Degree student to take additional coursework for a License in Professional Counseling (LPC). The Path to 60 program is designed for Lehigh School Counseling (SCON) and International School Counseling (INCO) alumni, but it is open to anyone who holds a master's in counseling (or a related field) and is working towards an LPC or similar license. Learn more about the Path to 60 Curriculum.
