Dr. Kong's research interests focus on social inequities in education including family-school relationships, child and youth welfare, and gender and education in East Asia. Dr. Kong recently published a book entitled Parenting, education, and social mobility in Rural China: Raising dragons and phoenixes, illuminating the invisible ways rural parents are involved in their children’s schooling.
