My research focuses on issues of equity and opportunity in educational organizations. Specifically, I evaluate local and state policies, primarily using administrative data. Much of my work has focused on assessing discipline disproportionalities for underrepresented groups and the impact of discipline policies on important student outcomes. I also have interests in school choice policies and teacher labor market reforms, particularly in understanding how these policies impact students and their access to high quality teachers and schools. Ultimately, I am interested in how policy may serve to advance or undermine equity in schools and aim to conduct research that enables educational leaders and policymakers to make equity-driven and evidence-based decisions.
