Since our 2012 issue, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has launched a study on the effects of hydraulic fracking that is expected to greatly influence the future debate. A progress report was posted online at www.epa.gov/hfstudy in December 2012, and the draft report of results from the study is expected in late 2014.
