The College of Education at Lehigh University is proud to honor Dr. Edward Shapiro's invaluable and numerous contributions to enhance the education and health of students with disabilities.  This day-long celebration will acknowledge Dr. Shapiro's development of academic assessment and intervention strategies, advancement of Response-to-Intervention programming, and formation of a new discipline, pediatric school psychology.  At the same time, contemporary research emanating from these contributions will be highlighted.  

The event will consist of a keynote address by Dr. Susan Sheridan, a national leader in early intervention for children with difficulties.  This will be followed by four academic symposia, each representing Dr. Shapiro's areas of expertise.  

The symposia will be led by nationally-renowned scholars, and include Dr. Shapiro's former students as well as current doctoral students - all influenced by Dr. Shapiro's research and extending applications in novel directions.  

Testimonials regarding Dr. Shapiro's professional and personal influences will be shared during the luncheon and cocktail hour. Dr. Shapiro's family will be in attendance.
