Nic Johnson Heads to UBC
Dec. 13, 2024
Nic Johnson, an associate professor in the COE’s Counseling Psychology program, has accepted a position with the University of British Columbia (UBC) effective January 2025. A skilled researcher, teacher and mentor, Johnson’s considerable leadership is evidenced by her work—up until her last days at Lehigh—to gain re-accreditation for the program.
"Dr. Johnson is a daring researcher, an inspiring mentor, and a generous colleague,” said Sara Kangas, program director for Special Education and ESL Programs. “Her research and advocacy in gender-based violence have made a significant impact in the field of Counseling Psychology, the College of Education and in the broader community.”
Through her work Johnson has informed practice, research and discourse on rape prevention and issues facing transgender and non-binary people. “Her advocacy and deep mentorship of students and peers will be deeply missed,” said Department Chair and Professor Chris Liang. “The program owes a great debt of gratitude.”
The COE faculty, students and staff wish Nic all the best in her new life in British Columbia.
