The College of Education is offering three new courses for Summer Session 1 (May 26 - July 3) on Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning. Each course tackles one of three aspects of this emerging technology: Opportunities, the Toolset, and Crisis. The courses are online asynchronous with opportunities for students to meet synchronously with instructors or teaching assistants.

Zhuozhi Lin recently published research looking at the "biological clock" (chronotype) of middle-aged and older adults to see if being a "night owl" vs. an "early bird" correlates with lifespan. Published in the Journal of Sleep Research, Lin, along with colleagues Matthew J. Reid, Darlynn M. Rojo-Wissar and Adam P. Spira, followed 2,261 participants and recorded 650 deaths during the study. A statistically significant link between chronotype and mortality was found in two of the three age groups studied.

Traci Schanewolf has been selected to participate in the Teacher Innovator Institute at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Schanewolf is an Educational Leadership doctoral student who is also completing her principal certification with the COE.
