Special Education Teacher

4+1 Accelerated Master's, Special Education

Overview

The demand for special education teachers remains very high. This degree program allows students who are interested in special education to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in five years, instead of the traditional six.

This combined degree program leads to either a B.A. or B.S. degree in an academic discipline from the College of Arts and Sciences, the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the College of Health or the College of Business, and an M.Ed. degree in Special Education. In addition, students also earn eligibility for a Special Education teaching certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) in grades PreK-12.

Curriculum

This 39-credit (minimum) master’s program prepares students for certification as PreK-12 special education teachers.
