The College of Education has scheduled the final oral examination of Nesreen Haddush for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Teaching, Learning, and Technology. The title of the dissertation is Exploring Generative AI in Higher Education: Integration Strategies, Learning Outcomes, and Applications in College Courses.

The public release of ChatGPT in late 2022 sparked widespread interest across higher education, moving the field beyond rigid, rule-based software toward adaptive Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). While higher education institutions across diverse disciplines have integrated GenAI to personalize learning, support writing, and enable dynamic scaffolding, this rapid adoption presents significant pedagogical challenges. Despite this widespread integration, systematic evidence examining GenAI’s educational impact and guidance for preparing future educators to use these tools effectively remains limited.

Ultimately, this research provides evidence-based foundation for educators, administrators, and policymakers. It advances the field by offering a cross-disciplinary synthesis of GenAI integration practices. Additionally, it contributes novel empirical insights into how pre-service teachers can collaborate with GenAI to support their growth and pedagogical practices.
