The College of Education has scheduled the final oral examination of Jessica Lathrop for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in School Psychology. The title of the dissertation is “Investigating Dual Factor Model of Student Mental Health Implications of the Interconnected Systems Framework in Schools.” As mental health needs of school age children rise, researchers and practitioners alike have turned to schools as an access point for mental health care. Best practice calls for universal screening for social, emotional, and behavioral risk to identify students in need of support (Splett et al., 2018). Screening for mental health traditionally involves assessing symptoms of psychological disorders. The dual factor model (DFM) of mental health combines positive and negative indicators of mental health to identify students in need of intervention.
