Veronica Lada

Student Spotlight: Veronica Lada

Meet Veronica

Veronica Lada is a sophomore Economics student at Lehigh University with a unique vision to become an actuary who connects people and amplifies underrepresented voices in business settings. By blending complex statistical models, an understanding of human learning processes, and a lifelong passion for music—she plays the violin, saxophone, and sings—Veronica exemplifies the power of an interdisciplinary mindset.

Why Lehigh?

When choosing a university, Veronica was looking for an environment that balanced rigorous academics, a welcoming community, and beautiful natural surroundings.

"I chose Lehigh because of the environment—academics, forestry, and community—the Economics program, and the emphasis on interdisciplinary studies," she shares. "I enjoy connecting otherwise distant people or subjects, and Lehigh is the perfect place to explore all kinds of hobbies and professions from photography to engineering."

A Passion for the Learning Sciences

Driven by the belief that teaching and communication are essential everyday skills, Veronica recently took a course in the learning sciences. She chose the class because of its direct applicability to everyday life and her desire to understand how educational research can improve the way we teach and learn.

Recently, she wrote an autoethnography as a case study and earned a seat on a Library and Technology Services (LTS) panel, where she sat alongside professors and academic experts to offer a vital student perspective on the learning process.

"Deeply researching what new practices are being approached in the field of education gives me hope that the teaching world can be more accommodating to many perspectives, and ultimately help students in the long run. Learning has the potential to be collaborative and less transactional."

Campus Leadership and Entrepreneurship

Veronica is constantly expanding her horizons. Currently, she is exploring entrepreneurship, using the analytical skills she developed in her learning sciences courses to deepen her understanding of business case studies.

She also serves as a TRAC (Technology, Research, and Communication) Fellow. In this role, she actively applies her skills in cultivating inclusive environments to help her peers improve their writing and navigate the peer-review process.

Life Outside the Classroom

To decompress, Veronica can often be found grabbing boba at Hocca, browsing the local mall, or heading over to Building C with a skateboard and a sketchbook in hand. Music remains a constant thread in her daily routine; she regularly plays in campus rehearsals and never misses a chance to attend a concert at the Zoellner Arts Center. Taking full advantage of the local landscape, she loves walking the scenic route from Mountaintop down to the main campus and recently completed a hike along the nearby Appalachian Trail.
