Kangas Receives AERA Mid-Career Award

Sara Kangas is this year's recipient of the AERA Second Language Research Special Interest Group (SIG) Mid-Career Award. She received this award for her research on equitable learning opportunities for multilingual learners with disabilities.  Kangas has been invited to give an acceptance speech highlighting her contributions to the field at the SIG Business Meeting at the 2026 AERA Annual Conference in Los Angeles.  

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) is a national research society that strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good. The AERA SIG Mid-Career Award honors an outstanding scholar who has developed a promising program of research focused on significant issues relating to second language research.
