Veronica Lada

Student Spotlight: Veronica Lada

Veronica Lada is a junior in Economics at Lehigh with a unique vision: to become an actuary who not only calculates risk but actively connects people and elevates underrepresented voices in the business world. For Veronica, the path to achieving this is inherently interdisciplinary. She bridges the gap between the analytical and the creative by calculating complex statistical models while simultaneously exploring human learning processes and expressing herself through the violin, saxophone, and her own voice.

When choosing a university, Lehigh’s blend of rigorous academics, a tight-knit community, and a scenic environment made it the ideal fit. The university’s strong Economics program and heavy emphasis on interdisciplinary studies perfectly matched her desire to connect seemingly distant subjects. From photography to engineering, Veronica views Lehigh as the ultimate proving ground for exploring a wide spectrum of hobbies and professions.

That exploration extends well beyond the classroom. To decompress, Veronica can often be found grabbing boba at Hocca, browsing the local mall, or heading over to Building C with a skateboard and a sketchbook in hand. Music remains a constant thread in her daily routine; she regularly plays in campus rehearsals and never misses a chance to attend a concert at the Zoellner Arts Center. Taking full advantage of the local landscape, she loves walking the scenic route from Mountaintop down to the main campus and recently completed a hike along the nearby Appalachian Trail.

Her deep curiosity recently led her to enroll in a learning sciences course—a field she finds incredibly applicable to everyday life. Recognizing that communication and teaching are vital daily skills, from personal storytelling to academic assignments, she wanted to immerse herself in educational research. By studying innovative practices in education, Veronica hopes to see a future where teaching is highly accommodating to diverse perspectives. She believes that learning possesses the profound potential to be a collaborative, deeply human experience rather than a purely transactional one.

Ultimately, Veronica’s journey at Lehigh is a testament to her belief that the most distant concepts can be harmonized. She continues to use her time on campus to share her genuine love for learning, proving every day that the many diverse parts of life are beautifully interconnected.
