Overview
The program is geared toward educators in any context: schools, higher education, corporations, community institutions such as museums, athletic programs, or even early childhood centers (e.g., museums, athletics). The curriculum is highly flexible, and courses are offered via in-person, online and hybrid options.
Lehigh’s experienced faculty work with master’s candidates to expand their understanding of how individuals learn and how to design materials and environments that best serve all learners.
Typically, it takes one to two years to complete the program, depending on whether students are full-time or part-time. A normal course load for part-time students is one or two courses in the fall, one or two in the spring and two in the summer.
M.Ed. students take 15 credits (5 courses) in core requirements and 15 credits (5 courses) of electives. Students may specialize in any of the following tracks:
- Technology and Design supports educators in how to effectively incorporate technology in educational settings.
- Innovative Pedagogy promotes educators' innovative pedagogical knowledge and skills
- English as a Second Language advances educators’ knowledge and use of evidence-based instructional practices to support the learning and second language development of multilingual learners in PK-12 settings.
- Social-Emotional-Behavior Wellness enhances educators’ understanding of how to meet the social-emotional needs of youth.
