"What I've been charged to do," he said, "is clean up." The only catch? The cleanup job is running Bartram High, a school so troubled that it took the attention of a city and a host of helpers to calm things after a staff member was knocked unconscious by a student in March.

Pearl joined the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science faculty in 2020, where she has developed innovative ways to engage students—especially women and other underrepresented populations—in computer science.
