Lehigh College of Education Alums in the Bethlehem Area School District

Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) hired three Lehigh College of Education alumni this year and promoted two to leadership positions.
Dr. Roy shared "We are proud to announce the hiring of these Lehigh University College of Education alumni who make an excellent addition to our Bethlehem Area School District staff. These highly educated Lehigh University graduates will help us navigate our way through the upcoming school year. We are so proud of the principal promotions and are looking forward to their continued leadership in the district."
- Evan Kauffman earned his B.A. in Psychology in 2017 from Lehigh and his M.Ed. in Secondary Education in 2019 from Kutztown and will be teaching social studies at Freedom High School.
- Janysa Morales earned her B.A. in English and her M.Ed. in Secondary Education in 2017 and will be teaching English at East Hills Middle School.
- Mitchell Thomas earned his B.A. in History in 2017 and his M.Ed. in Secondary Education in 2018 and will be teaching social studies at Broughal Middle School
- Shane Watson earned his M.Ed. in Elementary Education in 2020, taught at Centennial School, and will be teaching special education at Fountain Hill Elementary School.
- Daniel Garcia earned his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University in 2017 and is principal of Lincoln Elementary School. Daniel was the Assistant Principal of Donegan Elementary School.
- Julissa Jimenez, earned her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership in 2019 and is replacing Mr. Daniel Garcia as the new Assistant Principal of Donegan Elementary School.
Lehigh University's College of Education has had a longstanding relationship with BASD. Both Dr. Joseph J. Roy, BASD superintendent, and Dr. Jack Silva, BASD assistant superintendent, hold degrees from Lehigh.
