Yameng Cui

Cui Receives AERA Grant Award

Yameng Cui has received a Graduate Student Research Grant from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division H (Research, Evaluation, & Assessment in Schools). Cui is a doctoral student in the COE's Teaching, Learning, and Technology (TLT) program. TLT Associate Professor and Program Director Tom Hammond serves as Cui's faculty mentor.  

The grant will be used to support the proposed study, “Developing and Validating a Performance-Based Assessment of Systems Thinking in Elementary Science Classrooms.”  In recognition of the award, Cui has been invited to present her project at the 2026 AERA Annual Meeting in Los Angeles as part of the Division H invited poster session.

Cui is a fifth-year doctoral student in the TLT program, specializing in educational research on systems thinking and STEM integration in elementary classrooms. Her work focuses on developing and validating performance-based assessments to enhance student learning.
