Centennial School Celebrates 60 Years Leading in Special Education

As Centennial School turns 60, the local community celebrates the crucial role it plays in a system that is facing a shortage of qualified special education teachers.
 
Centennial pursues two principal missions: serving children and youth with challenging behaviors and preparing high quality teachers to enter the special education workforce. Centennial is governed by Lehigh University and the College of Education, with funding through the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
 
“We teach them how to think differently,” Centennial School Director Julie Fogt said of the trainee teachers learning how to address the needs of special education students.
