Student Spotlight: Alyssa Perez

Alyssa Perez is a master's student in the COE's School Counseling program. Her passion for the field grew from her desire to support students, not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Her professional goal is to help create safe, supportive environments where all students feel seen and valued.

Through her internship, practicum and graduate assistantship experiences, Perez has grown in her ability to collaborate with students, families, and school staff while continuing to learn and develop as a future counselor. She is committed to ethical practice, advocacy and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the students and communities she serves. She said, "Being at Lehigh has helped me grow not only professionally, but also personally, and it has strengthened my confidence in my path and passion for supporting students."

The COE emphasizes both evidence-based practice and real-world application, which is important to me as I prepare to work in diverse school settings. Through my program, I have been able to gain hands-on experience, collaborate with professionals in the field, and deepen my understanding of ethical and data-informed decision making.

While at Lehigh, Perez has worked as a graduate assistant for Fraternity and Sorority Life. Some of her favorite things to do in Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley include exploring downtown Bethlehem, trying local coffee shops and restaurants, and attending community events and festivals. She also serves as a student ambassador for the School Counseling program. Reach out through our Student Ambassador page with any questions!
