Student Spotlight: Dylan Young
Dylan Young is a doctoral student enrolled in the COE's School Psychology program. Earning her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Early Intervention Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), equipped Young with a strong foundation in educational research.
At VCU, she built her research portfolio, including work on:
- Multilingual learners and linguistic diversity.
- Educational workforce trends and systemic shifts.
- Computer-adaptive assessments specifically designed for preschool settings.
At Lehigh, Young balances her doctoral studies with a leadership role as the assistant director of the Lehigh University School Study Council.
Why Lehigh?
"I chose Lehigh for its community. From the School Psychology program to the Graduate Life Office, there is a tangible support system here that makes the doctoral journey feel like a shared experience. Lehigh has such an incredible reputation for their teaching programs, and I knew that it was the perfect place for me."
Young's goal is to transition into a research faculty role after graduation. "I’m passionate about staying in academia to bridge the gap between research and practice as a science-practitioner, while also teaching the next generation of school psychologists," she said.
Beyond the Books
When she isn't deep in data collection or supporting LUSSC, Young is a hobby cook and crafter who loves discovering the hidden gems of the Lehigh Valley.
- Local Tip: If you're looking for a caffeine fix, Young's top recommendation is Jacqueline’s on Main in Coopersburg. "It's incredible!"
- Weekend Vibes: You can usually find her exploring the local area and enjoying the community with her friends.
