Monday, November 5, 2018 - 10:15am

The Graduate Student Senate and Graduate Life Office hosted it's second annual Mentorship Appreciation Night on Friday, November 2, 2018 and faculty from the College of Education were honored by their students.

This event gave graduate students across the university a chance to recognize faculty members who exemplify outstanding mentoring.

"One of the most important relationships cultivated in graduate school is between graduate students and their mentors. Mentorship is critical to the development of the knowledge and skills necessary for academic achievement, but good mentoring also involves professional and personal support," said Kathleen Hutnik, Associate Dean for Graduate Life at Lehigh University.

Forty-five faculty members across the university were honored for excellence in mentorship by their graduate student mentees, and over 70 faculty members and students attended the event. From the College of Education, faculty that were honored by their graduate students included: Lisa Damaschke-Deitrick, Peggy Kong, Christopher Liang, Grace I. L. Caskie, Julia Lechuga, Susan S. Woodhouse, Craig Hochbein, Farah L. Vallera, Tom Hammond, and Minyi Shih Dennis.

"The importance of these mentors’ contribution to the Lehigh graduate school community cannot be understated."
