School psychology doc student, Alicia Chunta, Wins APA Division 53 Innovative Research Poster Award
School psychology doctoral student, Alicia Chunta, has won the Innovative Research poster award from the American Psychological Association, Division 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology).
This year the American Psychological Association's Annual Conference will be held virtually from August 6-8, 2020.
During the virtual conference they will present two virtual poster sessions. The virtual poster sessions focus on: “Moods and Minds: Understanding and Treating Children and Adolescents” and “Building Resilience in the Context of Families, Communities, and Diversity.” These sessions will feature our poster award winners which will highlight Alicia Chunta's Innovative Research Poster “Immersive Virtual Reality and Optimistic Parenting to Enhance Behavioral Parent Training for ADHD.” Co-authors of the poster are Courtney Cleminshaw, Dr. George DuPaul and Dr. Lee Kern.
Alicia is going to be a third-year doctoral student in the school psychology program. Her research interests include the development, implementation, and dissemination of evidence-based interventions for children with ADHD and other behavioral challenges. She is interested in child, parent, and teacher self-efficacy and the role it plays in treatment outcomes. Alicia is specifically interested in supporting families through parent education groups and supporting schools through school-wide positive behavioral support. Her hope is to help children with ADHD experience success regarding their academic, behavioral, social, and emotional functioning. Contact Alicia @ amc718@lehigh.edu
Courtney is a fifth year school psychology doctoral student. Her research interests include interventions for ADHD and co-occurring disruptive behavior disorders, self- and emotion-regulation, social functioning and peer relationships, the intersection of externalizing behaviors and pediatric health risk, and treatment for behavioral disorders and ADHD in integrated primary care.
