The Dr. Edward S. Shapiro Award

“Go Beyond!”
Dr. Edward S. Shapiro
Dr. Edward S. Shapiro

This award was established by Sally Shapiro in 2017 to honor Dr. Shapiro’s work in school psychology and his dedication to his students.

Dr. Shapiro’s research was “ahead of the curve,” leading and enhancing the field in improving the lives of children with academic, behavioral, and health challenges.  Dr. Shapiro was dedicated to training graduate students in school psychology and believed that they should seek opportunities for growth and leadership beyond the classroom.

Once annually, one or two current school psychology graduate students are chosen to receive the Go Beyond! Award to assist in their pursuit of leadership experiences or unique opportunities as a scientist-practitioner beyond the school psychology program’s training and academic requirements.

Graduate students currently enrolled in the Ed.S. or Ph.D. program in School Psychology at Lehigh University are eligible to apply for this award once annually.

To apply, please complete the application and submit it to your faculty advisor by December 1, 2023.

Awardees are recognized at the School Psychology Program Colloquium annually in the spring semester and are required to attend the colloquium to report on their use of the award.
